Our journey to South America started off wonderfully. We had a smooth flight from Seattle to Dallas and arrived with plenty of time to catch our connecting flight. The boarding of the Santiago bound flight went well. Everyone was settled in for the long overnight flight. Then, everything changed.
As we were being towed away from the gate, there was a bump and a clunk and everything stopped! We sat on the plane for a while as the ground crew tried to figure out what was wrong. Evidently, there had been a problem with the tow bar and the result was a flat front tire on the plane. After a couple of hours, we were asked to deplane and the airline would try to find a new plane for us. So, off we went to the waiting area and waited. The end result…our flight was cancelled and rescheduled for this morning at 10:15. Luckily, that flight went smoothly and, after collecting our luggage, we were picked up by our driver along with five additional people on the flight who also were on our tour. We made it to our hotel around 1:30 am, having missed the first day of our adventure.
